Harald Kraenzel | In the issue March 2023 issue of their magazine "LEGO Explorer," LEGO publishes the polybag "LEGO Space Shuttle" (Set No. 11976). As LEGO and Space Shuttle fans my friend Ralf and I had to adapt this LEGO polybag set according to our ideas. Please read what we did to achieve it..

Harald Kraenzel | After we had successfully adapted the LEGO polybag Space Shuttle (as above), we developed the idea that we could also create the SLS rockets (Block 1 and Block 1B) in the same scale (approximately 1:510). Please read what we did to achieve it STS | Block 1 | Block 1B |
Robert Pearlman | I really like those Harald! It would be great to complete a full series of U.S. launch vehicles in this style/scale. |
Harald Kraenzel | Robert, good idea. I'll take a closer look at it to see if it's feasible. But first of all: good new year to all of you. |
Harald Kraenzel | After some checks we were able to complete what Robert is talking of in his reply above: the desired full series of U.S. launch vehicles in the style/scale of the LEGO polybag 11976.
Please see US launch vehicles (incl. free building instructions). |
Robert Pearlman | I expressed this in an email to Harald as well, but very nicely done! Amazing what can be done with so relatively few pieces. |
Harald Kraenzel | Thank you very much for your kind words, Robert. It was a pleasure to take on this challenge. We had a lot of fun making it. By the way, the number of different bricks is 135 while the total number of used bricks is 696. |
Harald Kraenzel | Now that I have received all the necessary bricks, here is the result:

Harald Kraenzel | I have changed the building instructions for US launch vehicles. The building instructions was previously completely created in studio as descriptive pages and studio turned it into a PDF file with the effect that the texts and/or links present in the building instructions could neither be selected as text nor as a link. Since I didn't like this, I reconsidered the creation of the building instructions PDF file, with the result that descriptive texts or links are now generated with a different tool and converted into a PDF file. These two PDF files (descriptive texts and the building steps themselves) are then merged into one PDF file using a third tool. From now on the new building instructions is available in the link above. |
Harald Kraenzel | I was informed that when Bricklink tries to import the xml files, it reports certain part numbers as invalid. Looks like that Bricklink has modified some item numbers as it was recently discussed. Having a detailed look at the xml files some item numbers ending with a "b" were listed as invalid. Therefore I took the original studio files and created a wanted list again. Downloading this as xml file and importing this newly creating xml file back to Bricklink is now working correctly. If there are further problems please be so kind to give me a hint for that I can correct them. Thanks a lot! |
Harald Kraenzel | We now have added the International Space Station and the Lunar Gateway in the given scale.
